Hand-made vendor cart, projections, wood, cinderblocks, terracotta ceramic pieces, candles
These images document an installation whose central piece is a vendor cart, built and painted by hand. It is flanked by two looping videos projecting hologram-like figures that act as stand-ins for characters in the show. The figure in red sweeps a pile of dry clay from California and Mexico. She is surrounded by candles, creating a liminal space referencing both a fragmented tienda and dispersed alter. The different candle designs (printed on vellum and adhered to the glass) depict images and stories of the two projected figures. The figure dressed in blue is surrounded by handmade and decorated ceramic hands. The moving projection shows how I create the hands that are displayed, again referencing a fragmented tienda.
